According to Punch, Hashim Dungurawa, the chairman of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) in Kano State, has alleged that President Bola Tinubu is destabilizing the state by attempting to impose the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, on the Emirate. Dungurawa claims this is due to their shared Yoruba background.

Speaking to journalists in Kano, Dungurawa questioned the justification for providing Emir Bayero with special security protection against the state government's interests. He warned that President Tinubu's alleged interference in the Kano Emirate issue would have consequences in the 2027 elections.

Dungurawa also announced that the NNPP would field Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as its presidential candidate in 2027, assuring that Kwankwaso would become the next president of Nigeria. Additionally, he called for a review of the 2019 election outcomes, disputing the legitimacy of Abdullahi Ganduje's second term as Kano State governor.

The NNPP chairman cautioned President Tinubu that his stance on the Kano Emirate issue would work against him in 2027, stating that relying on his kinsmen in Kano and Emir Bayero's Yoruba lineage would not yield the desired outcome.

"If the President thinks he will use a few of his kinsmen in Kano and the alleged Bayero’s Yoruba lineage to continue to keep the deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero in the State, let him wait for 2027, we will show him that those people will not help him,” Dungurawa stated.
