In a recent statement on his official X account, Professor Pat Utomi, a well-known political economist, management expert, and former presidential aspirant, has expressed his thoughts on the current state of Nigeria’s economy and government spending.

Utomi criticized the government for its extravagant spending while the majority of Nigerians suffer.

Utomi highlighted the ongoing situation of the Nigerian economy.

He pointed out that the economic conditions are faltering, stating that social tensions are rising due to poor governance.

People are starving while the government spends on luxury items.

Utomi specifically mentioned the purchase of new jets and the construction of mansions for Vice Presidents.

"Given the faltering state of the Nigerian economy and increasing social tensions as a result of poor governance in which people are starving and government is buying new jets and building mansions for VPs, the Diaspora, I urged, should avoid being trapped in the machinations of state capture politicians and act as citizens to rebuild Nigeria held up by their remittances. They therefore had an anchor role in the erection of a new tribe (newtribe.com.ng) where personal integrity, the dignity of the human person, merit, the work ethic and collaboration for the common good were core values," Pat Utomi wrote.

Utomi underlined the important role of the Nigerian Diaspora.

He urged them not to be trapped by politicians involved in state capture.

Instead, he called on them to act as citizens dedicated to rebuilding Nigeria.

He noted that the remittances from the Diaspora are vital to the country.

Utomi proposed the concept of a "new tribe" for Nigerians.

He described this new tribe as one where core values are important.

These values include personal integrity, the dignity of the human person, merit, work ethic, and collaboration for the common good.
