A popular Nigerian human rights activist and the AAC presidential candidate during the 2023 Presidential Election, Mr Omoyele Sowore, has reacted to the viral video where some police officers were seen assaulting the Oyo State AAC Chairman, Mr. Kayode Babayomi.

While reacting, Mr Omoyele Sowore accused the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, of trying to use police officers to rig the Oyo State local government election that took place in Oyo State today. He went on and noted that the AAC chairman in Oyo State was assaulted and handcuffed by the police.

Mr Omoyele Sowore made this disclosure in a post he made on his official X handle on Saturday, after sharing a video where policemen were seen manhandling the Oyo State AAC Chairman.

Speaking further, Mr Sowore described the action of the police officers as an act of cruelty, noting that such action is totally unacceptable. He went further and made it clear that the police officers must be penalised, thereby describing state electoral commissions as the worst.

Mr Omoyele Sowore wrote: "These @policeng officers are the brutes sent out by Oyo State Gov @seyiamakinde to ensure the local government elections today are rigged for him, and you could see a @policeng officer in this video physically assaulting the @aacparty chairman in Oyo state, @Apostlekay7 after he was handcuffed; this outright act of cruelty is unacceptable, and this 1960-era officer must be penalized immediately. The state electoral commissions are the worst."

Recall that it was reported earlier today that the men of the Nigerian Police Force, today arrested the Oyo State chairman of the African Action Congress (AAC) Mr. Kayode Babayomi, who was on election duty on Saturday.
