According to Jamiu Abiola, who serves as the Special Assistant to the President on Special Duties in the Office of the Vice President, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been a great support to the Abiola family ever since his father, MKO, passed away.
In an interview with Vanguard on Sunday, Abiola claimed that Tinubu is unique among presidents in having nominated relatives to high-ranking appointments. The fact that Tinubu had nominated him and his younger sister to positions in his administration was disclosed by him. So remarked Abiola while responding to a query about whether Tinubu had helped out the Abiola family.
Furthermore, Abiola mentioned that Tinubu was the first Lagos governor to rename streets and housing developments after his mother, and that he also tried to find those responsible for her murder.
He said, "He is helping the family as much as he can. You know the kind of person he is, just like my father, he is generous to a fault with so many people depending on him.
"As a matter of fact, he is the only Nigerian President who has appointed any member of my family to work in the presidency. He appointed both me and a younger sister."
He added, "Aside from that, my siblings and I have fond memories of how he was the first governor to immortalize my mom, how he named streets and housing estates after her, and how the Lagos State under his leadership tried to bring her killers to book."
Another topic he covered was the recent incursion of Yoruba Nation agitators into the Oyo State Secretariat. He claimed that the majority of the intruders lacked vision and idealism, let alone the ability to transform an area as vibrant as South-West into a prosperous nation.
He claimed God united Nigeria so that its many peoples could work together for the sake of all Africa.
