On 4th May 2024 the Zamfara All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Movement in a statement released by the Chairman of the movement, Abubakar Gusau while reacting to the recent formal complaint submitted to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Headquarters by the All Progressive Congress (APC) Akida Forum, challenged them to provide the public with any documentary evidence where Bello Matawalle collected funds from any contractor as kickback or show any bank account where such funds were siphoned by Matawalle during his time as the former Governor of Zamfara State.

According to TheCable, the Chairman of the Zamfara All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Movement, Abubakar Gusau said "There is no documentary evidence where the former governor was indicted for misappropriation, misapplication, and embezzlement of public funds for personal enrichment. More importantly, there is a subsisting court judgment that restrained the EFCC from investigating, arresting, and prosecuting Matawalle. The judgment has not been set aside by a higher court. We challenge the sponsors of the protest to provide the public with any documentary evidence where the former governor collected funds from any contractor as kickback when he was in office or show any bank account where such funds were siphoned by Matawalle.”

If you could recall, some days ago the All Progressive Congress (APC) Akida Forum in a formal complaint submitted to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Headquarters in Abuja requested that the EFCC reopen the investigation into the corruption allegations against the former Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Mohammed Matawalle over alleged corruption and mismanagement of public funds totaling seventy billion naira.
