According to Nigerian Tribune, Chief Tony Okocha, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, has addressed rumors regarding his relationship with the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara. Contrary to allegations circulating in some quarters, Okocha clarified that he does not harbor any animosity towards the Governor. Speaking in Port Harcourt, he emphasized that his role as a leader of the main opposition party necessitates speaking out against potential pitfalls in governance.

Okocha highlighted that his vocal stance is intended to guide the Governor in avoiding mistakes that could negatively impact the state's progress. He stressed that his criticisms are not indicative of personal enmity but rather a commitment to ensuring the well-being and development of Rivers State. According to Okocha, such a critical role is essential for a robust democratic process where different viewpoints help in refining governance.

The APC leader made these remarks during a quiz and essay competition he sponsored for secondary and tertiary school students in Rivers State. The event underscored his dedication to educational development and community engagement. Okocha used the platform to convey his aspirations for the state, reiterating his desire to see Rivers State thrive through informed and effective leadership.

Chief Okocha also addressed perceptions of him and his party members as troublemakers. He asserted that their vocal opposition is rooted in a genuine concern for the state's direction and future.
