One of the demands Kenyans had during the anti-government protests was to gain clarity of how public funds are being spent by the government.
According to reliable reports by The Star on X, billions of taxpayers' money is at stake at the Hustler Fund, it has emerged that the unearthing major irregularities in what was arguably President William Ruto’s biggest campaign plank.
New audit reports shows that unregistered individuals and people who were not qualified for loans were advanced millions of shillings. Some people were also given loans above set limits while others got the loans without National Identity Cards.
Also some borrowers were given multiple loans before repayment of the previous ones while other Kenyans were unable to get any loan.

The Hustler Fund falls under the Ministry of Cooperatives and MSMEs. The Cabinet Secretary in charge is Simon Chelugui.
