The Rivers State Police Command has arrested over eight members of the ONELGA Security Planning and Advisory Committee (OSPAC) for alleged criminal activities. Felix Nwaobakata, the group's leader, was caught with two human skulls and other bones, according to a report by Vanguard.

Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, revealed that the arrests followed numerous public complaints about OSPAC’s operations. A Hausa community leader in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA) had reported an abduction by OSPAC, but the group attacked a police station instead of cooperating.

On May 9, 2024, Alhaji Usman Seleh reported the abduction of a community member by OSPAC. Despite police invitations, OSPAC, led by Nwaobakata, attacked the police station in Omoku, an attempt foiled by the police.

The police stormed the OSPAC camp, arresting several members, including Nwaobakata. He is also the main suspect in the murder of two brothers.

Iringe-Koko said, “The arrested OSPAC Commander, Felix Nwaobakata, is also a principal suspect in the murder of two brothers, Collins Ugorji (32) and Newman Ugorji (39), of the Idu Community in ONELGA. The brothers were killed on May 1st, 2024, by the OSPAC on the allegation that they were kidnappers.”

The Rivers State Police Command, led by Commissioner CP Olatunji Disu, vowed to investigate excesses by OSPAC. The Command emphasized its commitment to protecting lives and property while respecting constitutional rights. Residents are urged to report any assaults or illegal detentions by vigilante groups.
