Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has commended former Governor, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, for his legislative impacts and support in moving the state forward.
During Kalu's visit to his residence, Otti praised him for offering valuable advice and encouraged him to continue his proactive representation in the Senate.
According to the report by The Sun Newspaper on Saturday, both leaders called on politicians to put aside their political affiliations and work towards the state's development, noting that governance takes precedence over political platforms.
Otti stressed that as a sitting Governor, he prioritizes the masses' interest over political party loyalty, warning politicians against using politics to cause trouble.
He described Kalu as a "servant of Abia" and thanked him for his support, urging him to continue offering advice and working towards the state's progress.
The Governor noted that political parties are mere platforms, and every Abia resident wants good governance, which his administration is working hard to achieve.
He encouraged politicians to desist from using political parties as instruments of war and instead focus on the development of the state.
He said, "We thank you for what you have been doing at the Senate and we encourage you to do more, like I have always maintained once the election and probably litigations are over, political platforms take the backseat and governance takes the front seat."
Speaking further, the Abia State Governor said, "It is in that spirit that I welcome you, not as a member of a different political party, but as a servant of the people of Abia State, of which you are one of them. And as the Governor of Abia State, I don't belong to any political party."
