According to Abu Hamza, the spokesperson for the al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, several Israeli captives held in Gaza have attempted suicide.
According to a report by Al Jazeera, Hamza stated that the suicide attempts are due to the Israeli government's "neglect of their situation" and the treatment by al-Quds Brigades units who have "deprived them of some of the privileges that were provided to them prior to the heinous Nuseirat crime committed by the criminal Nazi enemy army [Israel]".
Last month, Israeli forces killed more than 270 Palestinians and injured 700 others during an operation in the Nuseirat refugee camp to free four Israeli captives.
Hamza said the decision to treat Israeli captives the same way Palestinian prisoners are treated in Israeli prisons will remain in effect "as long as the [Israeli] government continues its unjust measures towards our people and our prisoners".
