In a candid response to Senator Adolphus Wabara's assertion about the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) resilience against attempts to turn Nigeria into a one-party state, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, a foundation member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has pointed fingers at PDP leaders, including Wabara, for the party's current predicament.

Wabara, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the PDP, recently vowed to resist any efforts by the ruling APC to monopolize political power in Nigeria.

His statement comes amid a wave of resignations from the PDP, including notable figures like former Governor of Imo State, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, and Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Chuka Odom.

However, Okechukwu, in a statement released to DAILY POST, refuted the blame directed at the APC by Wabara and others, asserting that PDP leaders were responsible for the party's downfall.

He criticized the leadership for breaching presidential rotation conventions and constitutional provisions, leading to internal strife and defections.

Okechukwu emphasized that the existence of alternative political platforms like Peter Obi's Labour Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso's NNPP, and Nyesom Wike's Masquerade, which openly welcome defectors from the PDP, dispels fears of Nigeria becoming a one-party state.

He urged the PDP to engage in critical introspection to address its internal challenges, including the departure of key members like Obi and Kwankwaso.

Okechukwu emphasized the importance of upholding zoning conventions and internal democracy to rebuild the party's credibility and address the root causes of its decline.
