Four cultists who engage in house to house robbery in Delta community arrested at their hideout

It was the end of the road for four cultists who were said to be involved in carrying out house to house robbery operations in a community in Delta State as they have been arrested by men of the state police command at their hideout, the command disclosed today, June 21, 2024.

The command announced the arrest on its X handle while giving their names as Amechi Ichiagu, aged 25 years; Akpomiemie Larry, aged 32 years; Bright Ovie, aged 36 years and Ese Ogodo, aged 35 years.

The arrested robbers, as posted by the state police command on Friday.

They were arrested by the special operatives deployed by the Commissioner of Police in the state to Ughelli who stormed their hideout in Sapele and effected their arrest following intelligence reports gathered by them.

According to the command, during the raid on their hideout, the operatives recovered a locally-made pistol, cartridges as well as other items and the men are currently in custody giving more details about their nefarious activities.

The command wrote: "Preliminary investigation revealed that apart from their involvements in cult-related activities, they are suspected to be involved in house to house armed robbery."

They are expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.

The state government as well as the police command have grappled with the activities of armed robbers terrorizing residents of the state in recent times, especially in Asaba, the state capital, as well as other towns, while it was also found out that many of the robbers belong to various cult groups.

The command has also arrested some of the robbers and charged them to court.
