Major Highway Closed, Transport Paralyzed After Angry Protesters Took to the Streets on Thursday

A section of Kenyans on Thursday continued with the anti-government protests in different parts of the country to express their dissatisfaction with the current ruling Kenya Kwanza regime. Protests were reported in parts of Homa Bay County as well as Emali Town. 

According to latest reports on different social media platforms, major highway of Mombasa Road was closed at Emali town after residents turned out in large numbers to protest against the government. Residents closed the road using stone making it difficult for vehicles and passengers to move. 

In other parts of the country, police officers maintained their vigilance ensuring that there is law and order. Majority of Kenyans continued with their daily activities even as security agencies continued to patrol different streets of Nairobi and other major cities across the country. 

This come after majority of the Gen Z protesters pulled out of their anti-government protests after a section of goons was hired to disrupt the protests by causing violence and looting of properties. The goons who were hired from the slums showed up in large numbers and caused chaos and disruption in different parts of the Nairobi Central Business District. 

While reacting to the protests, the Cabinet Secretary of Ministry of Interior Professor Kithure Kindiki said that the government will continue to pursue protesters who are causing violence and looting of properties and businesses.

The vocal CS also assured Kenyans of their security as well as their safety. The state also declared that investigations are underway to arrest sponsors of violence.
