Arsenal seems set to lose their first major player of the current transfer window, following the winger's decision to find a new club.

The Gunners have already lost Mohammed Elneny and Cedric Soares this summer after they were released as free agents following the expiration of their contracts at the club.

Their exits raised speculations that more players would depart the club this summer folowing Arteta's plan to continue improving his side as he looks to go head to head with Manchester City again.

According to The Athletic, Arsenal star Reiss Nelson has handed in a transfer request amid interest from Crystal Palace, West Ham, Nottingham Forest and Fulham.

The report has claimed that the 24-year-old has informed the Gunners of his desire to explore potential transfer options this summer in search of a more prominent role elsewhere.

This news would come as a shock to so many Arsenal faithfuls given that Nelson only just signed a new contract with the club last July - a contract set to run till the summer of 2027.

Despite committing his long-term future to Arsenal, Nelson remains open to leaving the North London side this summer, with Arsenal set to lose a key player from the bench.

Some clubs expressed interest in Nelson during the January transfer window, but Arsenal prevented him from joining any, as they needed him to help the club compete in all fronts last season.

Nelson has been a good cover for Arsenal in the wings, therefore losing him will mean a more depleted squad depth for Mikel Arteta and his team. However, even though Arsenal are sweating on his departure, the club is still willing to let him go for a fee in the region of £20 million.
