Mikel Arteta requests medical assessment of Arsenal target before submitting bid

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reportedly requested the medical team to conduct an assessment of a summer target before submitting a bid.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly closing in on a significant sale as Arsenal make strides towards signing winger Pedro Neto.

The Gunners have expressed renewed interest in Neto and have requested the winger’s medical data ahead of a potential bid.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is keen to secure Neto’s services but only if medical tests confirm his fitness. There are concerns about the Portugal international’s injury history, as he missed substantial portions of the last two seasons due to hamstring issues.

Despite his injuries, Neto was one of Wolves’ standout players in the 2023/24 season. The 24-year-old scored two goals and provided nine assists in 20 Premier League appearances. He particularly impressed in a 4-3 home defeat to Manchester United in February, where he scored a goal and was named man of the match.

Arsenal hope to bring Neto’s impressive form to the Emirates Stadium, but only if they are confident he can overcome his injury woes. Once Neto’s medical data is analyzed, Arteta will decide whether to proceed with a bid.

According to Football Transfers, Wolves have significantly reduced Neto’s price tag. The club needs to make a sale to fund their own signings and comply with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations.
