On 3rd May 2024 the former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido during an interview with THISDAY when asked if he would leave the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and join the All Progressive Congress (APC) replied that no because the President of Nigeria, Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of the APC would not accept him.
According to THISDAY, the former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido said "No, they will not accept me. Go and ask President Bola Tinubu, if he and his APC will accept me.”
Sule Lamido added that the former Governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, and other chieftains of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) who resigned from the party were humiliated and frustrated by the leadership of the party, and as a person, he did not blame Ihedioha and his associates for dumping the PDP because he could understand why they left the party.
