Nigeria Police narrates how Inspector was found to be member of 5-man robbery/kidnapping gang

The Nigeria Police Force on Friday, May 17, 2024, narrated how an Inspector was dismissed from the force after he was found to be a member of a five-man robbery and kidnapping gang who robbed a man of the sum of N29.8 million in Abuja and collected N4.4 million from a victim of abduction.

The Nigeria Police disclosed this in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, and posted on his X handle, saying the officer, Inspector Adabo Mohammed, was eventually dismissed for the offences of criminal conspiracy, armed robbery/kidnapping and corrupt practice.

Police Service Commission promotes 1,897 officers, names new DIGThe statement was against the backdrop of the various sanctions by the police authorities on erring police officers in the course of performing their duties following various complaints by the citizens over the alleged high-handedness and brutality by some of the officers.

According to Adejobi, the police authorities discovered that the Inspector belonged to a five-man gang of armed robbers responsible for robbing a victim of the sum of N29.8 million in Gwagwalada area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

He said the gang was also responsible for the kidnap of a resident in Tunga Manje area, also in the FCT and they eventually collected the sun of N4.4 million as ransom before the victim was released.

According to the Nigeria Police, the Inspector was tried by the police authorities, found guilty and was dismissed from the force while he has also been charged to court accordingly.
