On 2nd July, 2024 the former Senate President, Senator Adolphus Wabara during an interview with Vanguard while reacting to the Bill sponsored by the member of the House of Representatives representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Honorable Amobi Ogah the creation of Etiti State as the additional State to bring the South East geo-political zone at par with other zones, revealed for him it was Aba because Aba remains one of the oldest Provinces in the country that had not become a State.

According to Vanguard, the former Senate President, Senator Adolphus Wabara said "For me it’s Aba because Aba remains one of the oldest Provinces that has not become a state. However, we should not in our agitation, lose this opportunity. We should come together as a people and come up with one proposal so that this opportunity doesn’t elude us.”

On the other hand, former Chairman of Nigeria Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Onyema Ugochukwu said that proposing three States for the South Eastern parts of Nigeria was not the way to go because the Ohanaeze was preparing their position on the restructuring of the country. He also urged the lawmakers to wait for the Ohanaeze position to be known before they continue with their arrangement for the creation of Etiti State as the additional State to bring the Southeast geo-political zone at par with other zones.
