A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu, has voiced doubt that the former governor of Kogi, Yahaya Bello, would misappropriate $720,000 from the government account, exchange it through Bureau De Change operators, and use the cash to pay his children's fees in advance. Bello was a member of the PDP.

According to Dele, when he read his case, he found something that was extremely different from the allegation that was made by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, also known as the EFCC.

The anti-corruption agency has levelled allegations of misuse of government funds and other financial offences against Yahaya Bello, who served as governor of Kogi State on multiple occasions. Olukoyede, the Chairman of the EFCC, stated that the former governor was invited to justify his supervision of the financial institution. In his conversation with the Chairman of the EFCC, Yahaya Bello expressed his fear of appearing before the EFCC because he would be implicated in the matter.

Earlier, members of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) raided the residence of the former governor in Abuja. However, they were able to rescue the governor of Kogi State, Ododo, and relocate him to the government house.

As a result of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, the controversial former governor was placed on the watch list of the Nigerian Immigration Service, and all of the police personnel who were linked to him were also removed from their positions.

According to Punch, Dele said, "I mean, I looked at the issue of school fees. Before I read, I was like, how can somebody pay that kind of money? Then, when I read, it was something else I was seeing. They said he paid upfront just before he left the government, and when I checked, that was not what happened. How can you try people before you go and examine the facts?"
