Nigeria’s Agriculture Minister, Dr. Muhammed Abubakar, announced today that the nation’s food crisis is expected to persist for at least another three months. Speaking at a press conference, Dr. Abubakar attributed the ongoing crisis to several factors, including severe weather conditions, supply chain disruptions, and ongoing security challenges in key agricultural regions.

“The combination of flooding in the north and drought in the central regions has significantly reduced our crop yields this season,” Dr. Abubakar explained. “Additionally, attacks by insurgents and bandits have hindered farmers’ ability to cultivate and harvest their produce safely.”

The minister emphasized that the government is implementing measures to mitigate the crisis, such as increasing food imports, providing subsidies to farmers, and improving security in affected areas. However, he warned that these efforts would take time to yield results.

“We are working tirelessly to ensure food availability and affordability for all Nigerians. However, the reality is that it will take a few months before we see significant improvement,” Dr. Abubakar stated.

He urged citizens to remain patient and supportive of the government's initiatives, while also encouraging private sector involvement to bolster the nation’s food supply chain.
