Should Antonio Conte be named as Napoli's new head coach in the summer, the team may try to recruit former Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku to replace Victor Osimhen, according to Soccernet.ng.

With his stellar performances for Napoli over the past two years, Nigerian sensation Osimhen has gained recognition. The Super Eagles star helped the Partenopeans win their first Scudetto in more than 30 years last season with 26 goals scored domestically.

Despite being constrained by injury this season, Osimhen has continued to put on outstanding performances for Napoli. In his 20 Serie A appearances, he has 13 goals and 3 assists. The Nigerian international appears to be approaching the point of departure at Napoli amid drawing interest from numerous elite clubs in Europe.

The current front-runners for the 25-year-old's signing seem to be Arsenal, Chelsea, and PSG; Napoli is anticipating transfer prices of up to €130 million. Still, nothing is official as of yet.

Napoli would need to sign a replacement should Osimhen decide to depart. But since Francesco Calzona might go at the end of the season and there are serious rumours that Antonio Conte will take over, the replacement might be selected by the next coach.

There are rumours that Napoli may make a move for either Joshua Zirkzee of Bologna or Jonathan David of Lille, but that is just conjecture for now. According to Italian football analyst Valter De Maggio, if Conte is named Napoli's coach, he will support Romelu Lukaku's deal.

At Inter Milan, Lukaku and Conte collaborated, and the Italian tactician might be eager to rekindle their partnership. The Belgian transfer fee could possibly come at a low cost for Napoli.
