Revisit High-profile Corruption Cases–Clark Tells EFCC Boss

Elder stateman, Chief Edwin Clark, has asked the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede, to revisit high-profile corruption cases involving ex-governors and politicians.

Clark urged Olukoyede to prosecute them to a conclusion.

The elder statesman made the call against the backdrop of the anti-graft agency’s hunt for a former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.

In an open letter to the EFCC chairman titled, “The Reviving of All Abandoned High Profile Corrupt Cases Against Politicians by The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)”, made available to journalists on Tuesday, the Ijaw leader commended the EFCC chairman for his commitment to the fight against corruption, while urging Nigerians to support him in the fight.

Imo Governor Uzodimma Appoints Self As Commissioner For Lands

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma has appointed himself as the Commissioner for Lands, Survey, and Physical Planning in the state.

The governor made the announcement on Tuesday during the inauguration of new commissioners at the Government House in Owerri.

Modestus Nwamkpa, a former Special Assistant to the Governor on Prints also disclosed this on his Facebook page on Tuesday.

The governor said he appointed himself to the position to prevent any corruption scandal as it happened in the past.

In November 2023, Governor Uzodimma suspended the state Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Physical Planning, Noble Atulegwu.

The 2016 US Democratic Party presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, has said if former US President Donald Trump wins the 2024 presidential election, his administration will be worse than his first administration.

Clinton said this on Tuesday in a post on her X account while reacting to Trump’s interviews with Time, where the former President outlined what he would do including carrying out a deportation operation designed to remove more than 11 million people from the US.

“If Donald Trump becomes president again, it wouldn't be as bad as it was last time. It would be much, much worse,” Clinton said.

Time reports that what emerged in two interviews with the former President, and conversations with more than a dozen of his closest advisers and confidants, were the outlines of an imperial presidency that would reshape America and its role in the world.

Troops Clear Terrorists’ Camp, Rescue Kidnap Victims, Recover Arms In Taraba

Troops of the Nigeria Army, 93 Battalion Sub-Sector 3B Operation Whirl Stroke, stationed at Fikyu have cleared terrorists’ camp and recovered one AK-47 Magazine with 10 rounds of 7.62MM special ammunition in Taraba State.

This follows a report by residents of suspected terrorists firing sporadically in the Pukun village of Fikyu in the Ussa Local Government Area of the state on Monday.

In a related development, troops deployed to Kofai Ammadu and Kasuwan Haske, in collaboration with troops from Sub-Sector 1A OPWS, acted on intelligence regarding the hideout of terrorists in Vingir Village of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, Benue State, and arrested a suspected kidnapper Dogo Manu.
