South West: We, In Afenifere, Feel Disturbed To Hear News Of Kidnapping Again - Jare Ajayi

On 5th July, 2024 the Publicity Secretary of the Pan Yoruba socio-cultural organization, Afenifere, Jare Ajayi during an interview with Vanguard while reacting to the resurgence of kidnappings in the South Western parts of the country, revealed they feel disturbed and it was disheartening to heard news of kidnapping again in the region after a long time, and they urged all tiers of Government to buckle up and develop a modern security technology to tackle the security challenges in the meantime.

According to Vanguard, the Publicity Secretary of the Pan Yoruba socio-cultural organization, Afenifere, Jare Ajayi said “We, in Afenifere, feel disturbed and it is disheartening to hear news of kidnapping again after a long time. We urge all tiers of government to buckle up and develop a modern security technology to nip it in the bud. Some of the things they can do include using modern security technology such as drones and CCTV to monitor events in the region. They can also convene a town hall meeting which will involve all stakeholders because we feel there is an insider in it."

On the other hand, the National Organizing Secretary of Afenifere, Abagun Kole Omololu said that the intelligence services and the police should be held accountable for the resurgence of kidnappings in the South Western parts of the country because it was a total negligence of duty on the part of law enforcement agencies. He also added that criminal elements were always on the prowl like lions to attack, and the security agencies have to be prepared for them.
