According to the report from the Channels, Tragedy struck Unguwar Sarkin Noma Community in Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State as at least twenty-four individuals lost their lives in a recent bandit attack. In addition to the fatalities, several others sustained injuries during the violent incident.

According to reports, the victims were predominantly members of the local vigilante group who bravely confronted the marauding bandits. The attack, which lasted approximately an hour, targeted four villages in a series of reprisal actions allegedly triggered by military operations against the bandits' strongholds.

Providing insight into the harrowing ordeal, a local security official shared that the criminals, described as hoodlums, launched assaults on the communities of Unguwar Sarkin Noma, Gangara, Tafi, and Kore on Thursday night around 9:00 PM. They unleashed chaos by indiscriminately firing shots to intimidate the residents and instill fear.

The chairman of Sabuwa Local Government Council, Faruq Dalhatu, revealed that 23 of the deceased were laid to rest in accordance with Islamic customs the morning after the attack. The final victim, who succumbed to injuries, was also interred following the tragic events that unfolded on that fateful night.

In response to the impending threat posed by the bandits, local authorities promptly alerted various security agencies. Despite the collective efforts to safeguard the community, the attackers managed to carry out their brutal assault, resulting in the loss of numerous lives.

While the community continues to grapple with the aftermath of the attack, the police authorities have remained silent on the matter. Attempts to reach out to the spokesperson of the State Police Command, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, for an official statement have been unsuccessful thus far.
