In a recent interview on Arise Television, prominent lawyer Kenneth Okonkwo voiced strong criticisms regarding the perceived unequal treatment of separatist groups in Nigeria. Okonkwo highlighted the case of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who is currently detained by Nigerian authorities.

He contrasted Kanu's situation with that of other separatist figures and groups from different regions of the country, emphasizing a disparity in their handling.

"Nnamdi Kanu has not done anything that other people from other zones have not done," Okonkwo stated. "We know about Sunday Igboho of the Yoruba Nation and we also know of the Boko Haram people that says they want a different country where Western education is an abomination. These people have been released. In the case of Boko Haram, they have been re-assimilated into society and they have been given jobs even in our military. They have been given money and have been resuscitated, reconciled, and rehabilitated."
