The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan, are scheduled to embark on a private visit to Nigeria, commencing on Friday, the 10th of May, 2024. Their three-day sojourn is at the behest of General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, who extended an invitation for the royal couple to engage with wounded soldiers.

Air Vice Marshal Abidemi Marquis, Director Sports at the Defence Headquarters, revealed this development on Thursday, emphasising the couple's intention to interact closely with injured servicemen and their families during their stay.

The impending visit has elicited diverse reactions, notably from former Nigerian lawmaker Shehu Sani, who articulated his views via social media.

Sani contended that while the royal visit may not yield immediate economic dividends for the nation, it presents an invaluable opportunity to showcase Nigeria on the global stage, particularly in light of Meghan's familial ties to the country and the significant media attention surrounding the couple's movements.

Sani further advocated for dignified treatment of Meghan, condemning the vilification she has faced in the British press and urging Nigerians to extend hospitality and respect to her as a guest.
