The Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, on Thursday, July 4, 2024, narrated how a 61-year-old man was electrocuted while wading through the flood that accompanied Wednesday's rainfall in the state.

Hundeyin disclosed this on his X handle, saying the incident occurred at the Orile Iganmu area of the state.

According to Hundeyin, as the flood in the area became more intense, the man decided to wade through it and while doing that, he held on to a streetlight pole.

Sadly, as he held on to the poll, he got electrocuted, according to Hundeyin.

He wrote: "During the rain yesterday in Orile-Iganmu, a 61-year-old man, while wading through the flood, held on to a streetlight pole and sadly got electrocuted. Stay safe, folks."

Many parts of both the mainland and island in Lagos State experienced hours of heavy rainfall on Wednesday, and many roads got flooded for some hours as a result of the intensity of the rain.

Both human and vehicular movements were impeded due to the flooded roads while many vehicles that waded through the flood found it hard to move again at a certain stage.
