The National Coordinator of the South-South Leadership Forum, Anabs Sara-Igbe, has underscored that the lawmakers who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and purportedly seek to impeach Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, lack the legal standing to do so. He emphasized that, in the eyes of the law, they are now deemed impostors.

In an interview with ARISE NEWS on Wednesday, Sara-Igbe further contended that President Tinubu does not possess the authority to override a court ruling from a competent jurisdiction.

The coordinator maintained that despite a court ruling ousting them from their legislative positions, the 27 lawmakers continue to wield influence as if still in power, thereby fabricating laws in dissent.

He remarked, "The individuals who self-designate as members of the House of Assembly as 'honourables' do not exhibit the requisite honorability. True honorability entails adherence to one's word. Regrettably, this virtue is lacking in them. If lawmakers themselves fail to uphold laws, who then will abide by their legislative enactments? We view them as impostors because, pursuant to section 109 (F), they are no longer constituents of the House of Assembly."

In his words: “We are saying those 27 lawmakers are no longer members of the house of Assembly, this is before the court and by virtue of the rule of law, if a case is before a court, status quo remains; everyone will wait for the judges to make a decision. I expected the House of Assembly members who are making laws to wait for the judiciary to interpret the law. They went ahead to be reeling out laws; laws that they could not do when Wike was the governor, laws they amended to suit Wike’s administration, now they want to change it because they feel Sim is not in the same book with them nor taking orders from their master. We are saying they cannot put legality on illegality."
