Former Speaker Resign From Imo PDP

Gerald Irona, a former deputy govenor in Imo, has resigned as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The former deputy govenor announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the PDP ward chairman in Oguta, Oguta LGA of the state.
Irona attributed his decision to quit the party to the “dissatisfaction with the current situation of things” in the PDP.

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has dismissed allegations that the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary did not hold in the state, branding such claims as mere “hearsay”.
Aiyedatiwa, who emerged victorious in the primary ahead of November’s governorship election, spoke to State House correspondents in Abuja yesterday.
He insisted the election took place across the state, despite complaints from some quarters.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has resolved to continue dialogue with all the aspirants that contested for its ticket to contest for the September 21 Ondo governorship election, individually and collectively in order to have a common ground at the main polls.
The APC deputy national publicity secretary, Duro Meseko, stated this while addressing journalists jointly with the Ondo State party chairman, Ade Adetimehin, at the end of the meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) with the aspirants and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa who emerged as the candidate.
Don't Allow PDP Collapse On You, Clark Cautions Damagum

Elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark, has urged the acting national chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ambassador Illiya Damagum to resign from his position and not to allow the party to collapse on him.
Clark, who stated this in an open letter he wrote to Damagum dated April 24, 2024, also said the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) showed “obvious weakness” by allowing the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to “bamboozle everyone in the meeting,” adding that “No one was ready to speak truth to power.”
The elder statesman who decried the state of party under Damagum’s leadership said, “This is a clarion call on you, Mr. Acting National Chairman, to either sit up, or do the needful by resigning from the position, so that the party does not collapse on you.”
CSOs Demand Rerun Of Ondo APC Primary Election

Amid protests over alleged irregularities surrounding the recent All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Ondo State, a coalition of civil society observer groups, has intensified calls for a complete cancellation and rerun of the election.
In a statement jointly signed by team leader, Comrade Eleojo Emem, and team secretary Oluwafemi Kayode, the observer groups who were tasked with monitoring pre-election activities issued a damning report highlighting significant flaws in the process.
They recommended a transparent, credible, and all-inclusive rerun to salvage the party’s integrity and ensure a fair selection of the gubernatorial candidate ahead of the November 16, 2024 election.
