Since his exit as the National Defence University-Kenya Vice Chancellor in the military changes made by President William Ruto in March 2024, little was known of what became of Major General Mohamed Said Farah.

Major General Farah had succeeded Lt General ( Rtd) Jonah Maina Mwangi as the NDU-K second Vice Chancellor in Ruto's first ever military changes as President and Commander-in-chief of the Kenya Defence Forces.

But in the changes made by Dr Ruto, Major General Farah was succeeded by Lt General Jimson Mutai, the former Kenya Navy Commander.

After one month of silence after those changes, on Thursday as President Ruto made other military shakeup two weeks after the death of former Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla, Major General Farah bounced back in style as he was appointed as the new Director, Kenya Shipyards Limited to succeed Major General Paul Owuor Otieno who was appointed as Kenya Navy Commander.

Major General Farah, the former Director of Military Intelligence, is one of the most seasoned naval officers in the country.
