'$7 billion of public funds was written off by the Minister Of Finance' - Chief Okoi Obono Obla

Former Presidential Aide to Muhammadu Buhari and Former Head Of Special Presidential Investigations, Chief Okoi Obono Obla was recently on the "Mic On Podcast" with Seun Okin and he spoke about a lot of things.

During the podcast, Chief Okoi Obono Obla narrated how 7 billion dollars that was bail out fund to banks was written off some couple of years ago.

"This case was reported by Femi Falana (SAN), he wrote a petition saying that 7 billion dollars that Professor Soludo when he was Governor of the Central Bank gave out as bail out funds to enable banks recapitalize that, that money has not been returned. He said in that petition that it was not a dash, that it was a loan and up till now, it has not been recovered".

"So when we started investigation, one of the persons we invited, Dr Shamsudeen Usman, he was Minister for Finance under Yar'adua's government. You know the Minister Of Finance is the Chairman Of the Board of the Central Bank Of Nigeria and he said that he wrote off that money, 7 billion dollars of public money was written off. These Banks don't belong to all of us, just a groups of private people. So you are taking 7 billion dollars and dashing people", Chief Okoi Obono Obla said.
