Lawyer and human rights activist, Prof. Chidi Anselm Odinkalu has reacted after the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC warned the general public not to plan any form of protest against the commission.
In the post that the EFCC titled, "EFCC Warns Promoters Of Planned Protest", the commission claimed that a group has been recruiting impressionable young Nigerians, including students to take up arms against the commission.
EFCC wrote on its official X handle;
"The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, wishes to alert the general public on the plan by a shadowy group to instigate a “protest” against the Commission. In the last couple of days, the group has been actively campaigning in the social media, recruiting impressionable young Nigerians, including students to take up “arms” against the EFCC. This insidious campaign is being promoted as resistance to the operational activities of the Commission especially in respect of the enforcement of the laws dealing with cybercrimes".
Reacting to the statement, Chidi Odinkalu said an EFCC which does its work will have the public rallying in support of it.
