SouthEast: That Part Of The Country Has Suffered A Lot Of Injustice - Shehu Sani

Human rights advocate and public speaker Senator Shehu Sani has claimed that the Southeast has experienced significant injustice as a result of an issue that is not their own.

Shehu Sani discussed restructuring in an interview with The Sun, stating that it will be right and fair to put the southeast on par with other zones if Nigeria does not return to its six regional agreements. According to him, the area should be granted the state it needs in order to promote growth in that area of the nation.

Shehu went on to say that the Southeast has been subjected to injustice and is bearing a stigma from the past that is being passed down from parents to children and grandkids. He issued a warning, saying that such an action poses a threat to Nigeria's unity.

He said, "First of all, we cannot be talking about forming states if we are talking about Nigeria's future, a restructure." In a reorganised Nigeria, states will dissolve to create at least six regions, after which the regions will be free to develop their own policies, projects, and sources of income to support them. Furthermore, I do not think the idea of state creation should come up if we are going to accomplish that."

"But it is fair and just that the Southeast will be equated with other zones and given a state that they need if it will bring progress to that area of the country," he continued, "if we are not going to go back into six regional structures." That region of the nation has endured a great deal of injustice due to an issue that is not their own, and they are carrying a historical stigma that is being passed down from parents to children and grandkids, which is extremely harmful for the nation's unity."
