News hitting the airwaves just now is that armed goons have reportedly blocked the Homabay-Migori road today, paralysing transport along the Major road.
According to the information shared by a Local Media house today morning, the goons who were armed with dangerous weapons, decided to block the mentioned road using heavy stones.
The goons forced the motorists to pay some token before they allowed them to pass the road.
The unfortunate incident comes on a day when the countrywide Gen Z Protests is expected to take place in the country.
It is therefore possible that the goons have taken the advantage of the peaceful protests that were initiated by the Gen Zs to carry out their ill motives.
During the last protests on Tuesday, such cases of goons infiltrating the peaceful protests were witnessed, as several businesses were looted in major towns like Mombasa and Nairobi.
Speaking over the protests yesterday, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua pleaded with Gen Z to call off the anti-goverment protests, arguing that the protests have been infiltrated by goons who want to destroy the country.
Gachagua said that they have already heard the pleas of the youths, adding that they have also put in place mechanisms to solve the issues raised by the Gen Z.
But as at now, the Gen Zs are yet to call off the protests and are expected to take to the streets again today, Thursday 4th July 2024.
Meanwhile, we take this opportunity to plead with the youths who are planning to join the protests to maintain peace and order, and desist from unnecessary act of looting and chaos, like the one witnessed in Migori this morning.
