The Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Governor Siminialayi Fubara's supporters, held a legislative session on Friday.

According to a report by Vanguard, the session, overseen by Hon. Victor Oko-Jumbo, addressed the Assembly's appeal against a recent Court of Appeal ruling that overturned a State High Court decision.

The High Court ruling had permitted them to hold positions in the legislature. However, the Court of Appeal ruled that the High Court's order was invalid in a case filed by Amaewhule and others.

Oko-Jumbo announced their decision to challenge this ruling in the Supreme Court. Despite the Appeal Court's judgment, which questioned the High Court's jurisdiction over the case, the Assembly is determined to pursue the matter further.

During the session, Deputy Speaker Hon. Adolphus Orubienimigha and House Leader Hon. Sokari Goodboy introduced two bills: the Rivers State Emergency Management Agency Bill, 2024, by Goodboy, and the Rivers State Transport Company Reform Bill, 2024, by Orubienimigha.
