In response to the recent surge in civil unrest, the Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) has taken decisive steps, unveiling the image of a suspect believed to have incited criminal acts.
Published on their official Facebook page, the DCI disclosed the photograph of the wanted individual and issued an urgent plea for him to surrender at the nearest police precinct to face immediate legal consequences.
A pursuit is currently underway for individuals who yesterday besieged Bondo Police Station wielding improvised weaponry such as stones, catapults, petrol bombs, and other concealed arms, resulting in severe injuries to numerous police personnel and extensive property damage.
Already, one suspect, Sostine Otieno, has been apprehended following a video capturing his assault on a police officer, leaving the latter incapacitated on the ground before absconding with his anti-riot launcher. The weapon has been successfully recovered as authorities intensify efforts to apprehend other identified accomplices.
Meanwhile, the officer who narrowly escaped harm thanks to bystanders' intervention remains hospitalised in critical condition at a Bondo medical facility. Fortunately, most of the other officers and civilians injured during the attack have been discharged from medical care.
The DCI urges anyone with pertinent information concerning the whereabouts of the wanted individuals or related incidents to come forward and assist in bringing those responsible to justice promptly.
