Emirship Tussle: Ado-Bayero's Legal Team withdraw legal service.

In the ongoing emirship dispute in Kano State, counsel representing the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado-Bayero, have withdrawn their legal services before the State High Court.

The decision was announced by Mr. Abdul Muhammed and other legal representatives during a recent hearing.

The case involves a motion filed by the Attorney General of Kano State and the State House of Assembly seeking to restrain Ado-Bayero and four other dethroned emirs from acting as emirs.

Despite efforts by Ado-Bayero's legal team to delay proceedings pending an appeal, their request for a stay was denied by Justice Amina Adamu-Aliyu.

During the proceedings, counsel for the respondents argued against the validity of the Kano State Emirates Council (Repeal) Law 2024, emphasizing procedural irregularities.

According to Daily Post, they also sought dismissal of the applicant’s motions with substantial costs.

The court, however, adjourned the matter until July 18 to rule on various pending applications, including an extension of time and objections to earlier court orders.

This development adds another layer of complexity to the legal battle surrounding the Kano emirate councils, following their dissolution by the state government in May.
