According to Vanguard, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has strongly defended his character against recent criticisms, asserting that any negative traits would have been evident long ago. Speaking at a public event, Fubara used vivid metaphors to argue that true character cannot be hidden indefinitely.

“If I were a bad person, you can’t hide a bad character for more than a week, a month, a year, or even sixteen years,” Fubara stated. “For sixteen years, if I was a bad person, everybody would have known. But, even your own child that is in your house, that you have given birth to, it gets to a stage, your girl child will enter the bathroom and lock the door from behind.”

Fubara dismissed the idea of being force-fed a negative narrative, emphasizing that he would reject any falsehoods once he discerned the truth. “Even if they forcefully put a feeding bottle in my mouth, if I get filled up, won’t I pull it out?” he questioned.

He encouraged the public to critically evaluate the sources of such rumors, urging them to demand concrete examples of his alleged bad behavior or ungratefulness. “When people stand outside and say what they say, I want you people to ask them to tell you in their own good conscience, what is that bad thing; that wickedness, that ungratefulness that this man (Fubara) has ever shown or done.”
