As reported by Vanguard, On July 1, a terrorist ambush in Jibia Local Government Area, Katsina State, Nigeria, claimed the lives of five police officers. The attack occurred as the officers were returning from their duty posts in Zandam village. Local resident Aisha Musa reported hearing gunfire that evening, saying, "We were just settling in for the night when we heard the shots. It was terrifying."

Sergeant Yusuf Ibrahim, a colleague of the fallen officers, expressed his grief: "These were our brothers. They were just doing their job, returning from Zandam village. Now they're gone." The incident has heightened fears among civilians, with market vendor Kabiru Aliyu stating, "If they can do this to armed police, what about us civilians? We don't feel safe anymore."

Governor Ibrahim Shehu addressed the public, vowing to take action: "This cowardly act will not go unpunished. We will strengthen our security measures and bring these criminals to justice. I urge all citizens to stay vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement."
