The recent move by Kenyans to continually oppose the finance bill in the country has sparked a new conversation in the political arena. This comes at a time when the country is facing tough economic times, and an additional tax would be devastating.

The young men and women in the country took to the streets to force the current regime, led by William Samoei Arap Ruto, to reject the bill. They were keen to note that they were not going to allow the president to continue taxing them, yet the previous finance bill was also oppressive.

This led to protests where security agencies in the country strategically placed snipers on top of buildings. Their main aim was to ensure that they would neutralize demonstrators who tried to approach parliament since it is a protected area.

The shooting that was done in secret led to the deaths of over ten people who were trying to access parliament after overpowering police officers. It was done to try and counter their leaders, who were immediately neutralized, leading to a retreat.
