A 19-year-old member of an armed robbery gang was arrested by men of the Niger Stare Police Command while hiding inside a ceiling after his gang members robbed some female students in their hostel, the command announced on Thursday, May 2, 2024.
The state police command, which announced the development on its Facebook wall on Thursday, said the teenager, whose name was given as Mustapha Musa, was arrested by operatives attached to the Bosso Division of the command.

According to the report, a distress call was received by the police operatives that some armed robbers invaded a female hostel in the Bosso area of Minna, the state capital, and dispossessed the students of their valuables.
The police operatives were said to have raced to the scene and on sighting the operatives, the robbers reportedly took to their heels, but Musa was said to have hidden inside the ceiling of one of the rooms in the hostel.
The operatives were said to have found him hiding inside the ceiling and eventually arrested him. At the point of his arrest, one sharp knife, seven phones and two power banks said to have been stolen from the students, among other items, were recovered from him.
The police statement added: "Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is a notorious robber who was identified to have perpetrated similar act at Bosso campus second gate around February this year."
The statement added that he is currently giving more useful information to the police operatives about his nefarious activities and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.
