According to the report from the Sun, The Anambra State Local Government Service Commission has recently revealed troubling discoveries as it continues its mission to clean up the local government system. Following the uncovering of over 427 ghost workers, the Commission has now disclosed that 57 deceased staff members are still receiving salaries across the state's 21 local government areas.

Vin Ezeaka, Chairman of the Anambra State Local Government Service Commission, stated that the Commission had launched further investigations. These efforts uncovered that "over 427 workers were discovered to have been on the government payroll without being staff."

The Chairman explained, "We discovered 59 deceased staff who are still receiving salaries, 40 retirees also receiving salaries, and above all, we discovered 222 workers on the payroll who nobody could identify as workers in any of the 21 LGAs. We have many of them living abroad and still receiving salaries, so we wrote to the Joint Account Committee (JAC) to remove them from the payroll."

Ezeaka also emphasized the Commission's firm stance against fraudulent practices, stating, "Some of them have come to voluntarily retire, but we refused because you can’t cheat the government and want to retire. We are going to finish our thorough investigation, and those we caught in this unholy act will face the full weight of the law in accordance with civil service rules."

Through these bold reforms, the Anambra State Local Government Service Commission aims to restore integrity and accountability to the local government system, ensuring that only genuine workers receive their rightful salaries.
