Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo has lauded his injured teammate Moses Simon as one of the best players in the Nigerian national team. Omeruo's remarks came as he provided insights into Simon's injury situation following a damaging incident during Nigeria's match against Mali in Marrakech, Morocco.
The Nantes winger, Moses Simon, suffered an injury setback during Nigeria's 2-0 defeat to Mali on Tuesday. The injury occurred in the 27th minute when Simon missed a scoring opportunity after a setup by Alex Iwobi, leading to his subsequent injury.
According to Daily Post, speaking about Simon's condition after the game, Omeruo expressed concern but remained hopeful that the injury is not severe.
"There's no information about Moses Simon. They went to the hospital, and we're hopeful it's not something serious," Omeruo stated.
Omeruo further highlighted Simon's importance to the team, describing him as "one of our best players." The setback caused by Simon's injury is viewed as a loss for the Super Eagles as they navigate their football campaigns.
