According To The The Sun News, The organization's President General, CP Iorbee High (rtd.), informed our correspondent in Makurdi that the ministry's establishment was intended to assist the Fulani people, enabling them to get acceptance wherever they go with their cows. Mzough U Tiv (MUT), a socio-cultural group in Benue State, has also deemed the establishment of the ministry to be both inappropriate and out of place.

Lorbee High said, "We are the food baskets of the nation but we are not farming because these Fulani with their AK-47 are killing our people and then the president is creating a ministry for them why,"

Chief Abia Onyike, the group's national secretary, stated that as livestock is only a division of the Department/Ministry of Agriculture, it is not deserving of being its own ministry. In addition, Onyike urged the president to clarify his plans and objectives, pointing out that the establishment of the new ministry appeared to allay concerns held by some that the government was intent on seizing and handing over territory to Fulani herders.

The excesses of the herdsmen will intensify when the Ministry of Livestock Development is established and a northerner is appointed as Minister. The Minister will promote a pro-herder agenda. That isn't a workable answer for the current issues. According to Onyike, the Tinubu administration ought to halt the creation of new ministries and instead encourage the current ones to carry out their missions as best they can. According to Suleiman, the Northern Elders Forum had long since advocated for this and other measures by the government that could be useful in containing the ongoing hostilities.

"Where resistance is shown, the federal and state governments should immediately identify suitable lands across the nation and create grazing reserves and cattle routes, and where necessary, expropriate such land by using the Land Use Act and other relevant laws."
