"We Need to Prevent the Kenyanisation of Our Country" Sani Warns Against Economic Instability

According to a Tweet posted on his verified X, former Senator Shehu Sani, who represented Kaduna State, voiced strong criticism of the current distribution of financial aid by the government. Sani emphasized that the allocation of 50,000 Naira to one million people is grossly inadequate given the scale of the nation’s economic challenges.

He urged the government to increase the number of beneficiaries to at least 25 million, focusing primarily on people with disabilities, women, and youths.

Sani's call comes amidst growing concerns about the economic instability and the increasing cost of living affecting millions of Nigerians.

"Fifty thousand Naira for one million people is not enough," he asserted, stressing the urgent need for more inclusive and widespread support to prevent what he termed the "Kenyanisation" of Nigeria—a reference to economic hardships and instability faced by Kenya in recent years.

Highlighting the vulnerable populations, Sani pointed out that people with disabilities, women, and youths should be the first priority in any relief efforts.

"These groups are often the most affected by economic downturns and should be at the forefront of our support initiatives," he said.

The former senator’s statement reflects a growing sentiment among many Nigerians who feel that current government measures are insufficient to address the economic realities on the ground.

With inflation rates soaring and unemployment remaining high, the call for increased financial assistance and targeted support for vulnerable groups is gaining traction.

Sani's proposal to expand the aid program to 25 million people is seen as a necessary step to provide meaningful relief and stimulate economic recovery.

His advocacy highlights the need for comprehensive and inclusive policies to tackle the multifaceted economic challenges facing Nigeria today.
