Tinubu Signs Executive Order To Remove Tariffs

President Bola Tinubu has signed an Executive Order to remove tariffs and taxes on imported pharmaceutical ingredients, with the aim to increase local production of healthcare products.

The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Muhammad Ali Pate, disclosed this via his X account on Friday.

Pate said the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), is expected to take the next steps towards codifying the new order.

The Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has arrived at the venue of the funeral of late Nollywood veteran actor, John Okafor also known as Mr Ibu, in Enugu state.

An X user while sharing a video wrote: “Mr Peter Obi arrives at Amuri, Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State to pay his last respects to the late Nollywood actor, Chief John Okafor (Mr Ibu).”

DAILY POST recalls that in October 2023, reports emerged that Mr Ibu was ill and required financial assistance.

Nigerian Government Urged To End EFCC Operatives Brutality, Unprofessional Conducts

A media practitioner, Mr. Akinrinlola Olumide, has called on the President Bola Tinubu-led administration to caution the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over its brutality of Nigerians and a series of reported unprofessional conducts. 

Olumide was reacting to the recent action of the EFCC operatives in the assault of a female staff and other guests at the Regional Hotel in Ojo, Lagos State. 

A footage had surfaced on Thursday, showing some EFCC operatives assaulting guests and employees at the Annex and Regional hotels in Lagos.

Scrap Local Governors Won't Allow Them Function, Audu Ogbeh Tells FG

A former Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh, has urged the federal government to scrap Local Governments system, if governors won’t allow the system to function the way it should.

Daily Trust reports that there are 774 local government areas in the country but the efficiency of the third tier of government has been hampered by the weight of controlling and overbearing governors who have been accused of mismanaging funds meant for the administration of local governments.

In the last few months, calls for local government autonomy have increased in Nigeria.
