Kwara State is witnessing the rise of a new political entity named the Kwara Redemption Movement (KRM) in anticipation of the 2027 general elections. According to an exclusive position paper obtained by LEADERSHIP, the KRM claims to be non-partisan and aims to revitalize the state’s political culture while advancing the collective interests of its people.

Led by Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo, a former chief whip in the Kwara State House of Assembly and a prominent legal practitioner, the KRM identifies a significant political gap in the state. It criticizes past administrations for failing to effectively serve the comprehensive interests of the populace, pointing to issues such as governance inefficiencies and economic mismanagement.

The KRM boasts a diverse membership, encompassing individuals from across the political spectrum and representing all three senatorial districts of Kwara State. According to their position paper, the movement's primary goal is to address historical leadership deficiencies and promote principles of equity and fairness in governance.

"For too long, Kwara State has suffered from dysfunctional governance and economic mismanagement," states the position paper. It underscores the KRM's commitment to uniting the state under a unified agenda focused on sustainable development and inclusive governance.
