Yuki Gambaryan, wife of Tigran Gambaryan, a detained Binance executive in Nigeria, has appealed to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to drop charges against her husband, maintaining his innocence and urging his release.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned Binance Holdings Limited and its executive, Tigran Gambaryan, on money laundering allegations in April.

On April 8, Binance Holdings Limited and its executives were arraigned on a five-count charge at the Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Judge Emeka Nwite.

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) withdrew its tax evasion charges against Tigran Gambaryan on June 14.

On Tuesday, July 2, Yuki Gambaryan issued a statement urging the EFCC to follow FIRS' example and drop the charges against her husband, citing the significant hardship his continued detention is causing their family.

“Yuki Gambaryan pleaded with the EFCC to drop the charges against her husband, Tigran, citing the immense suffering he's enduring due to this injustice. She urged the EFCC to follow the FIRS' example and end his ordeal."

"Yuki Gambaryan reiterated that her husband, Tigran, has never held a decision-making role at Binance, and the court evidence confirms this. She emphasized that there is no valid reason for his ongoing detention."

"Yuki Gambaryan urged the Nigerian authorities to take the right step and release her husband, Tigran, who she affirmed is innocent. She emphasized that the situation has dragged on for too long and needs to be resolved."

"Yuki Gambaryan expressed concern over her husband's deteriorating health while in detention, citing specific issues such as numbness in his foot and back pain, which have worsened during his confinement."

"Yuki revealed that her husband has suffered from serious health issues while in prison, including double pneumonia and malaria."

The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Kuje Correctional Facility to release Gambaryan's medical records, covering his June 3 hospital visit, to his legal team.

The court has rescheduled the trial for July 5.
