INEC Set to Release Report on 2023 Election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is set to unveil the highly anticipated report on the conduct of the 2023 General Election, as well as the comprehensive review of the electoral process by the commission's review committee. This development was revealed by INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, during an induction retreat for newly appointed Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) in Lagos.

According to politics Nigeria, Speaking at the retreat, Yakubu emphasized the importance of reflecting on past performance, re-examining processes, and brainstorming innovative solutions to enhance electoral services. The INEC boss also highlighted the ongoing nature of elections, with voter registration activities currently underway. He noted that the timing of the retreat was crucial, given the upcoming governorship polls in Edo and Ondo states, as well as five pending bye-elections.

Notably, Yakubu revealed that INEC will conduct four significant elections before the next general election in 2027. These include the Anambra State governorship election, Ekiti and Osun state governorship elections, and the Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). As INEC works towards transparency and accountability, this announcement marks a significant step towards ensuring that citizens can have full confidence in the electoral process."
