Alia’s Government bans SGF's Akume thanksgiving in Benue

The Benue State Government has banned the thanksgiving service organised in honour of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume which is to take place on Sunday January 30.

The ban was announced on Radio Benue, the State Government owned media on Friday.


According to the report, the Caretaker Chairman of Guma Local Government, Hon. Unongu Simon issued the ban of the thanksgiving event in honor of SGF citing the ban on political gathering in the state by the governor and volatile security in the area.


Meanwhile, the Central Planning Committee Chairman, and the former Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Barrister Dave Iorhemba says the event will hold as planned noting that they have not violated any law of the state.

He urged the public to disregard the ban on the thanksgiving.


It will the recalled that Pastor and Elders of NKST Church Daudu-Mbawa in Guma Local Government Area, had announced that they will organise a Thanksgiving Service and Grand Reception in honour of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume.


The Central Planning Committee Chairman, and the former Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Barrister Dave Iorhemba in a statement noted that the thanksgiving service will take place on Sunday, June, thirty at NKST Church Daudu. At 10am.


The statement urged the public, party supporters and well-wishers to attend the thanksgiving service to pray for SGF to succeed on his assignment.
